MASSAGE THERAPY IN MAPLE GROVE MN

Meet Our Massage Therapist Nick Koenig, L.M.T.

Nick Koenig became certified in massage therapy in 2001. As a lifelong athlete, he looked for a way to merge his passion for sports and massage and became a personal trainer as well. Since then he has been providing clients with high-quality therapy and training to help them achieve their goals & dreams. With his deep tissue and therapeutic mastery, he will help you become more mobile than you ever have been, fitness-forward, pain-free, and proving to many that you don't have to act your age.

From ultra-marathons to mountain climbing, Olympic lifting to mountain biking…he can show you the way to become the best version of yourself. Nick has a keen understanding of how detrimental injury can be for athletes at any (and all) levels-and how imperative & important massage therapy is in getting them back into the game...whether your 'game' is on the court or field, or at home with the kids. When the going gets tough, Nick keeps you going.

Assisted Stretch

Assisted Stretching is when a stretch professional such as a massage therapist helps stretch a client’s body. Facilitated stretching can be done with a client in passive or active contraction. Active assisted stretching means that the client is actively trying to resist and contract their muscles while being stretched by the therapist. Passive would be the opposite, meaning the client is lying in a relaxed position and allowing the therapist to stretch them without any resistance. The purpose of assisted stretching is to lengthen and stretch the body further than it normally would without any help. Further, when a massage therapist performs assisted stretching on a client, they can get additional information about your body such as determining differences between a problem area or healthy area of the body and the strength differences between each side. With this knowledge the therapist can then work to help balance the client’s body and achieve results.

Cupping

Cupping is a natural therapy that dates back as far back as 1000 BC. Cupping therapy helps relieve muscle tension, improve blood flow and reduce inflammation. Unlike traditional massage where a therapist is pressing down to release tension; cupping is using suction to pull the tension to the surface and out.

During the massage both stationery and gliding methods will be used. During a cupping session you will more than likely experience discoloration in the areas where the cups are placed stationary. The discolorations are not bruises. When circulation is sluggish, compromised, injured, has insufficient oxygen or a build-up of waste, there will be blanching and discoloration that comes to the surface. The discoloration usually fades anywhere between 1 to seven days.

Hot & Cold Therapy

Choose between your arms, legs or back. Then this treatment starts and ends with warm towels. The warm towels help increase blood flow along with preparing the muscles for manual manipulation. During the treatment the muscles are massaged using Prossage oil, allowing for a deeper experience. After the massage portion the muscles are cooled using Biofreeze. Both oils have a main ingredient of menthol to aid in muscle recovery.
